As time goes by, we have more stuff worth celebrating in the company going on, so we've decided to take it up a notch and celebrate small and big teams with a joint virtual breakfast on the company!
We still think it was last week, or last year, but we've recently celebrated our eighth anniversary as a company. MarsBased was officially incorporated on March 7th, 2014. Eight years have flown by!
Throughout the years, we have launched projects, organised conferences, recorded dozens of podcasts, met super interesting people (some celebrities as well!), spoken at big events and travelled around the world while working on this lifestyle business that is MarsBased.
Oftentimes, however, we've been too heads-down working on projects, coding our way through deliveries and milestones, that very seldom (if ever), we have taken a moment to step back, take a look at things from a distance, and reflect on what we have accomplished as a team.
Our co-founder and COO, Jordi, had a brilliant idea a couple of weeks ago: we would celebrate the important milestones of the company, team anniversaries, and projects by having a joint online breakfast on the company. This includes birthdays, new Martians joining the team, big project releases, etc.
Up until now, we wished everyone happy birthday through Slack, which is nice, but it is even cooler to jump into Gather.town and share some time together having a joint breakfast and discussing the topic at hand.
This breakfast is on MarsBased. Pretty much like we do on the Martian Days, employees expense this meal. It's a small gesture from our side, but who says no to free breakfast? Maybe it's the perfect excuse to get that cake from your favourite bakery in town!
We announce the Martian Breakfasts on Basecamp, our organisation tool of choice, and we send everyone a calendar invite as well and the rest... well, you know it! It's a piece of cake (pun totally intended).
Working in all-remote environments means having to bond with your teammates also remotely. Here's one of the many things we do to create a better working environment at MarsBased: we host a musical contest every week
